STEPHEN HATCHER · FINE ART WOODTURNING AND SCULPTURE
The Search for Clarity
Year: 2004
Dimensions: 15"W x 8"T x 5"D
Materials: Maple Burl, recycled ebony guitar fingerboards, and koa with inlaid translucent minerals. Finished with metal-acid dyes and musical-instrument lacquer.
Comment: This is the first open half-moon form I made. The feet and rim were made by fitting sections of ebony guitar fingerboards together using ebony-colored epoxy. Lit from above, the inlay 'windows' glow. Shown at Turning to the Future, Grovewood Gallery, Ashville, NC. In the collection of Dr. Hague.
