Materials: Flame-figured bigleaf maple with inlaid minerals and 24K gold leaf. Finished with aniline dyes and tung oil.

Comment: This is the first of many autumn-themed platters and vases but remains my favorite. When turned horizontally, the "flame" figure works so well to depict a stormy autumn sky. In the collection of the San Diego Woodturning Center.
